Microsoft laptop hunter, take 2

April 7th, 2009

Yea, fanboys are duking out the second episode of the M$ ad campaign on the message boards over the past few days.  Giampaolo is indeed a cool name. What I can assess from this ad is that it’s been too long since I’ve purchased a computer–I had no idea laptops came in cool ergonomic boxes these days…

You know what was weird about this commercial? “Macs are about the looks and not the computing power.” While you may pay a premium for the Mac style, the power is there to back it up – most of the Mac line has hardware that’s pretty comparable to high end laptop PC’s! But I suppose this isn’t the first ad that exaggerates the truth so it’s not much to get worked up about.

Yup, the computing power is there. Although the good looks sort of come with the price of fewer expansion ports (usb, memory card, vga…etc) and extra cost for the cool remote. It’s true that most of the time we don’t ever use those ports anyway, but they do come in handy if you do need them.
